Flanders House recording - part 1 - World War I ex-servicemen:
The Glasgow Stories web site was launched, 11th November 2008, with a tribute to the old soldiers of the Great Wars. In remembrance of the young men who fought, generally in atrocious conditions and against seemingly impossible odds, in the first and second world wars, we have uploaded two recordings made 30 years ago at Flanders House, in Glasgow. The recordings were recently featured in the Glasgow Evening Times and Reporting Scotland but have never been aired in full until now.

Flanders House in Dorchester Avenue was, at that time, a retirement home for ex-servicemen and we hear some of the stories the men had to tell, in their own words. We don't have any names to go along with the voices but if you recognize your grandfather's voice in either recording, get in touch with us.
